Rainbow Art Glass

Farmingdale, NJ

The roof of Rainbow Art Glass was constructed with solid sawn, press plate, wood trusses, spaced at two feet on center. There had been past repairs to many of the trusses that had failed, presumably during snowstorms, but these repairs were not effective and there were new failures. Dajon Associates of Hackensack, NJ installed emergency shoring and we were hired to design the repairs. We had previously collaborated with Dajon on similar projects to develop a repair plan for reinforcing every 5th truss so that it could support the weight from five trusses. Laminated Veneer Lumber beams were added at the quarter points of the truss span to transfer the load from the four unreinforced trusses to each reinforced truss.
