Lowe’s Home Improvement Stores
After their in-house structural engineer was promoted in 1993, Lowe’s needed a consulting engineer to handle new projects until a new engineer could be hired. Fast forward 20 years and we’ve worked on over 500 Lowe’s stores from the Northeast to the Rockies. We’ve designed them for earthquakes, hurricanes, snowstorms and bad soil conditions, though not all at the same time. Except for the Lowe’s in Charleston, where we were faced with three of those four challenges.
Kroger Grocery Store Remodels
Since 2011, we’ve been working with Capstone Project Services and The Kroger Company on stores in VA, WV and NC as part of an on-going effort to improve the shopping experience and reflect consumer purchasing trends. The work ranges from minor upgrades of roof-mounted equipment to major store expansions. Projects have included investigation of existing structural systems in coordination with the architectural, mechanical, and refrigeration consultants to provide economical solutions. The projects also require design consideration of construction phasing sequences because the stores are typically kept fully operational during the renovations.
